Mike Adetunji Babatunde, an Accountancy graduate of the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, worked as an Accountant, Finance Manager and Admin Manager for some private organizations in Lagos between 1986 and 1994. During this period, he had a clear conviction from the Lord that he was being prepared for an eventual exit from secular employment to become a full-time teacher of God’s word.

However, when the call finally came in 1993, he hesitated and landed himself and his family in the similitude of the Biblical Jonah’s experience before making a final surrender on the 5^th of October, 1994. Thus, the Ministry started with the solid backing of his wife, Nike, and was later joined by Brothers Gbenga Afolabi, Tunde Adesina, Yinka Aderibigbe, Dele Akanmu, Samuel Akintoye, Gbenga Ojo, and later by Bro. Tayo Akinola.

As the presiding officer of the Ministry, Mike later went for a four years theological training at the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, called Lagos Baptist College of Theology, Isolo, Lagos, leading to the award of the Bachelor of Theology degree, and was licensed to preach in 2004. He later got ordained into the full gospel ministry by the Nigerian Baptist Convention in 2010.

The name given to the Ministry by divine inspiration in 1994 was His Grace Anointed Teaching Ministry (HIGATEM), which started in 1994 and was registered in November 2006 with the Corporate Affairs Commission. The registered trustees are Mike Babatunde, Dn. Gbenga Afolabi, Elder Akin Iroko, Dn. Johnson Onigbinde and Mrs. Adenike Babatunde.

The Ministry is both international and interdenominational in nature. Thus, the trustees and the members are all encouraged to be faithful in their local Churches. The Babatundes were members of the Grace Baptist Pentecostal Church, Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos, at the time of the commencement of the Ministry. They later joined Amuwo Odofin Baptist Church, Mile 2, Lagos. On relocating to Ikorodu, they became members of Abundant Life Baptist Church, Omitoro Ikorodu, a Daughter Church started in front of their house by Amuwo Odofin Baptist Church. They eventually left Abundant Life Baptist Church and led HIGATEM to start God’s Grace Baptist Church, Imowonla, Ikorodu, Lagos, as a member of Lagos East Baptist Conference under the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

We organize Couples Retreat and Singles Connect programmes annually. The Ministry also organizes the Children Father Christmas Show a few days before Christmas to catch children young for Christ. We, therefore, include children choir, drama, Bible study etc. For all the programs, no entry/registration fee, no offering is collected, and yet free lunch is provided through the faithfulness of God.
